The processing of citrus fruit into juice products is one of the Florida’s major agro-businesses. For the past several years the Florida Department of Citrus has conducted a Processed Juice Monitoring Program to verify the quality of both domestic and imported product, and to monitor industry compliance with label, Standards of Identity, and juice component regulations.
Key Elements of the Program
- Obtain and analyze commercially prepared citrus processed juice products from the retail market place
- Obtain and analyze imported commercially processed juice products from citrus producing areas outside the state of Florida
- Maintain an active database of component analyses of products
- Resolve issues arising from product monitoring with juice processors
