Adulteration

Commercial citrus juice samples are continuously evaluated to verify their compliance with the various state and federal regulations. Juices are also examined to ensure that they do not contain added compounds such as extra sugars that would constitute a form of adulteration. Other compositional analyses are also evaluated to determine potential adulteration.

The composition of citrus juices has been evaluated over many years and multiple databases are available to list and quantify a wide range of citrus components to be found in natural, safe and wholesome juices. These databases may be used as guidelines when examining juices for adulteration.
