FDOC Legal & Regulatory

The Commission oversees and guides the activities of the Department and must approve all budgets, contracts, licenses, rules and programs. Department staff carries out Commission policy by conducting a wide variety of programs involving industry regulation, harvesting research, scientific research, market and economic research, advertising, public and industry relations and consumer promotions.

The FDOC legal department interacts with the citrus industry, marketing and state agencies on all regulatory and legal issues. It is responsible for insuring the Department meets all rulemaking requirements, interpretation and compliance with Chapter 601, Florida Statutes; Chapter 20, Florida Administrative Code; and the Florida Sunshine Law. Activities include the licensing of citrus fruit dealers and responding to the regulatory needs of the citrus industry. In addition, the legal department is responsible for reviewing all Department contracts and marketing materials as well as records management and monitoring legislative activities.
